Early on, Tappan became
known as a premier name in cooking equipment with the introduction
of our cast iron stoves. Our reputation as innovators grew during
World War I, when Tappan received national recognition for developing
and supplying cooking equipment for our armed forces. We continued
to pave the way with the introduction of our gas furnaces and
electric ranges. And then in 1955, Tappan invented something
that most of us take for granted...the microwave oven.
